Groundbreaking

Khalid Usman has been a very strong supporter of the Markham Stouffville Hospital and has been successful in raising over $600,000 in donations for the hospital expansion building program.  As a Town of Markham Councillor he was involved in the concept stage of the East Markham Community Centre and Library.  This is a unique complex as not only does it include the usual family recreation facilities but it is also an integral part of the hospital.  The two buildings are directly connected providing hospital patients and staff access to modern rehab equipment, recreation facilities and the swimming pool.  In addition the library will include an extensive medical reference library.

Khalid attended the Official Groundbreaking Ceremonies together with the Mayor and other members of Council, senior town staff, community leaders and representatives of the Markham Stouffville Hospital.  This was also the groundbreaking for the Cornell Fire Station as a much needed addition to provide emergency services to Markham’s east end.
